At Farmcote Pottery

Following 2 years of intensive training at Clay College, Stoke, totalling to 6 years of experience working with clay and specialising in thrown forms on the wheel, from September I will be offering pottery classes taught from my studio in Heathfield, East Sussex.
In a six week block of classes you will gain a good understanding of the processes involved in making your own functional pottery. Starting with cylinders and bowls on the wheel, trimming the bottoms of your pots, pulling handles, all the way through to glazing.
For more intermediate learners we will hone in your skills and practice shaping, lidded jars and scaling up, etc.
I have three wheels and therefore can accommodate three people for lessons in my studio, this means my classes are closer to private classes and you will receive more of my attention. I teach with a deep care in helping you improve your skills and explore your creativity in a fun and calm environment. It will be amazing to have you on board!
Taster Sessions
This is a one off beginner taster session offering you a chance to get your hands messy and get a feel for what it’s like to throw on the wheel. You will come out with a couple of pots you have made which I will glaze and fire, ready for you to use in your home.
Bookings can be arranged to find a time suited to you, including weekends. Maximum space for 3 people.
Two hour taster sessions are £70 per person and include materials and firings.
6 Week Throwing Course
Beginner Level
Lesson 1 – Introduction to the process, wedging clay, throwing cylinders
Lesson 2 – Continue practice throwing cylinders, making mug bodies
Lesson 3 – Pulling and attaching handles to mug bodies
Lesson 4 – Throwing bowls
Lesson 5 – Trimming/turning bowls
Lesson 6 – Glazing pots
After glazing your pots they will be fired and ready for you to take home within a week.

Cost:
£50 per class totalling £300 for the 6 week block (materials included)
